How to Get Around?

From Airport to Hotel

By Taxi

Főtaxi, the taxi company with the longest traditions (founded 1913) in Hungary transports passengers between the terminals and Budapest. (No other taxi companies are allowed in the airport as per today.)

Reservations can be made in person at the Főtaxi booths located at the exits of Terminals 2A and 2B. At the taxi ranks in front of the stands, taxis are continuously waiting for passengers.

In Hungary, the taxi decree regulates the price* of taxis at a fixed tariff of 300 HUF/km (0.95 EUR/km), in addition to a one-off basic fee of 700 HUF (2.2 EUR) and a waiting fee. A ride to the city center should typically cost around 7200 HUF (26 EUR), depending on traffic conditions.

Please be aware of potentially exposing yourself to risks by using other, non-contracted taxi service providers soliciting at the terminal buildings.

Public Transport Tickets

Please download and use the BKK (Budapest Public Transport) app—it's quite a user-friendly tool! You can plan your route with it (e.g., to see sights, reach dinner venues, etc.), check bus/tram/trolley/tube timetables, as well as you can buy your passes and 100E tickets via the app.

There are two pass types that may be useful to you:

  • 72-hour-ticket
  • weekly pass.

You can buy both passes:

  • in paper-based form: at any ticket ATMs or in any BKK ticket offices, which can be found around the main transport junctions; or
  • in digital form: via the BKK app.

In both cases, please ask for advice or check the app instructions how to validate your pass.
