The Institute of Political and International Studies will be holding a discussion with Neelu Shanker, Counsellor (Political and Public Affairs), Embassy of Canada to Hungary, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dr Zsigó Frank Thomas and Professor Andrew Ryder.

The discussion will focus on Canada's diverse and multicultural society.

ABOUT Neelu Shanker

Neelu Shanker is Counsellor for Political and Public Affairs at the Embassy of Canada to Hungary, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this capacity, she manages Canada’s political relationship with all three countries of accreditation, and leads in advocating for Canadian priorities, including among others peace and security, and the advancement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. 

Ms. Shanker first joined Global Affairs Canada in 2009, and has since held positions working on Canadian sanctions, multilateral legal affairs, human rights, and cybersecurity, including in Ottawa as well as at Canada’s Embassy to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in New York. She holds a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University in Toronto, ON, and a Bachelor of Commerce in International Management with a focus on East Asia from the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.
