On June 10, 2025, Khondoker Mokaddem Hossain (Bangladesh University of Professionals) will give an open lecture at the Faculty of Social Sciences tilted "Climate change, vulnerability and adaptation: the case of Bangladesh".

The presentation examines the nexus between climate change, vulnerability and adaptation in least-developed countries (LDCs), with special reference to Bangladesh, one of the most climate-vulnerable countries. A renowned scholar of the field, Prof. Hossain observes how extreme climate variability creates vulnerability in countries that contributed the least to greenhouse gas emissions. The world's most disadvantaged socio-economic groups of people are disproportionately affected by climate change due to their socio-economic and environmental conditions. The presentation observes coping strategies, key adaptation strategies, and sustainability with the climate crisis by setting the goals and targets for a climate-resilient future through National Adaptation Plans (NAPs). It is expected that through NAP processes, many LDCs could succeed in their adaptation priorities, sustaining resources, tracking progress, and driving adaptation action.
