Loaning

The conditions of book loaning

  • The circulation is only available for the registered users.
  • Loaning a book is possible in person, only for your own part. Our users with disabilities can loan through an authorized person if they have a written power of attorney.
  • Loaning documents and loaning time by type of user.

Documents that can’t be loaned

  • These books can’t be loaned, which is marked with a red line at the bottom of the book spine.
  • Periodicals, except: “Esély”
  • Documents from Special Collections
    • Theses, dissertations,
    • Heritage of Dénes Némedi
    • Deposit collections

Loan extension

  • The loan period can be extended for only once if there is no reservation for the book.
  • The extension can happen.
    • In person
    • On the phone (+36-1-372-2500/6881)
    • In email (konyvtar@tatk.elte.hu) (In the mail we need the user’s name, the barcode of the library card or student card and the title and the author of the book.)
    • Through the ELTEFind after Logging in.
    • On WebApp
  • Incompletable extension request:
    • After the end of the loan period.
    • The yellow-marked books (which can be loaned for a day or a weekend).
    • If the registration validity ends.
    • If the user has debt towards the library.

Delay

For everyone who loaned a book, the library sends an email.

  • As a reminder before the loan period ends.
  • As a notification a day after the loan period ends.
  • As a warning, four days after the loan period ends.

For those users who don't settle their debt after the loan period ends, we send a letter of formal notice by post.

  • For documents, those returned after the deadline will pay a late fee and administration and postage costs.
  • The late fee can be paid with cash or by online payment via WebApp.
  • If the student of the Faculty of Social Sciences has a late fee that is higher than 10,000 HUF, then the amount of debit will appear in the NEPTUN.
  • That user who has a debt – book or money – will be excluded from borrowing temporarily.
  • Students who are temporarily or permanently dismissed from the faculty are required to report to the library until the day prior to leaving the institution.
  • Students who are temporarily or permanently dismissed from the Faculty are required to account with the library until the day before leaving.

Damaged or lost books

The damaged or lost books must be replaced with the same or newer editions. If the documents are no longer available, the antique traffic value of them must be paid, plus 2000 HUF as an administration fee.
