The Bachelor training in Sociology welcomes students interested in social life, social phenomena and interactions. Sociology studies the collective behavior of people, examines social relationships, processes and institutions. Sociology offers deeper insights into phenomena such as prejudice and exclusion, deviance and norms, social conflicts, family, gender, relationship between generations, religious beliefs and changes in cultural habits, or the impact of traditional and new media.

The goal of this programme is to train professional sociologists at the bachelor level. Successful graduates of the programme should have a solid grasp of the concepts and principles of sociology and have mastered its methods at an appropriate level. They should also be able to critically analyze and interpret social problems in a meaningful way. In addition to traditional lectures and seminars, the programme incorporates project-based teaching methods and includes a semester of intensive project work.

Who is the programme for?

This programme is recommended for applicants interested in understanding the social world—how roles and norms shape cooperation, why conflicts emerge and how they can be managed at both micro and macro levels, and how new technologies influence our daily lives. The programme targets those, who would like to develop their communication, cooperation and presentation skills. Those wishing to deepen their knowledge in a specific sub-field can choose from our specializations such as data analysis or criminology. Specializations comprise of classes within the same field, and their completion grants students an extra certification.

What the programme prepares students for

This programme enables students to be ready to fill a wide range of entry-level jobs supporting decision-making, requiring analytical problem solving in the public as well as the private sector. They should also have gained adequate knowledge and skills to continue their training in a master’s programme in sociology or other related subjects anywhere in the world.
