Marek Kucia: The Europeanisation of Holocaust memory in Eastern Europe

Az ELTE Szociológia Doktori Iskola minden érdeklődőt meghív Marek Kucia angol nyelvű előadására május 7-én, szerdán, 12 órakor. Az előadás címe „The Europeanisation of Holocaust memory in Eastern Europe”.
 
Marek Kucia a krakkói Jagelló Egyetem docense és a Centre for European Studies előadója. 2013 és 2014 között Marie Curie fellowként a svédországi Lund Egyetem Centre for European Studies intézményében dolgozik. 2001-ben jelent meg a könyve „Auschwitz as a Social Fact” címmel (lengyel nyelven).

Absztrakt
„The Holocaust has been a part of national memories in Western European countries, Israel, and the United States since the 1960s and a part of cosmopolitan and European memory since the 1990s. In Eastern Europe, where the Holocaust largely occurred, its memory did not develop until the end of communist rule in 1989–91. The objective of this talk is to assess to what extent, how and why the cosmopolitan and (Western) European memory of the Holocaust has contributed to the development of Holocaust memory in Eastern Europe since 1989. The talk will concern primarily the former communist-ruled countries that joined the European Union, with references to other post-communist countries in the east of the continent (excluding Russia).”
