Arrival
Citizens of foreign countries (even ones coming from other EU memberstates) can stay in Hungary for only 90 days without a residence permit. Before you start your studies at ELTE, you need to ensure your legal status in Hungary. Considering from what part of the world you are coming to Hungary, choose the appropriate way to make your stay legal.

EEA students (from EU, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Lichtenstein)

If you are a student from the European Economic Area (EEA: member states of the EU and Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, and Lichtenstein), you are required to obtain a registration card. For this, you need to submit your request with the required documents inperson, at the Office of Immigration and Nationality.

Non-EEA students

If you are a student from the non-European Economic Area (EEA), you are required to obtain a residence permit, and after your arrival in Hungary you need to register your accommodation. For this, you need to submit your request with the required documents inperson, at the Office of Immigration and Nationality.
