Emerging patterns of human trafficking—with a focus on sexual and labor exploitation in the Global South and their local implications—will be explored at an upcoming panel discussion at the ELTE Faculty of Social Sciences on May 14. 

The event is based on a recent volume edited by Anabela Miranda Rodrigues and Maria João Guia, which highlights the fact that sexual exploitation remains the most prevalent form of human trafficking and explores new practices that have intensified in the post–COVID‑19 period, particularly outside Europe. Bringing together academic research and insights from experienced professionals working in governmental institutions, the book analyzes the methods traffickers use to coerce and control victims. This interdisciplinary approach makes the volume a significant contribution to research, policy dialogue, and awareness‑raising in the field of human trafficking.
